history
On a chilly autumn night, the Smith's moved from the UK to Ashwick Grove, Connecticut. Only a few months beforehand had Mrs. Smith given birth to her beautiful baby boy, Andrew Jr. The birth had come painfully and slowly - despite the flow of her magic within her. (Which she secretly had hoped would ease the torture.) Poor Mr. Smith had no way of helping her, but to sooth her pain by gently kissing her eyelids, her nose and her lips as he let her hold his hand tightly.
They bought the first house they laid eyes on and never regretted the decision. It brought them four houses down from the family who became their closest confidants - the Manning's - well, at least for the parents.
The move to Ashwick Grove had not been an easy one on Mrs. Smith. She had a hard time shifting into this new place. However, her little baby gave her courage - plus, the Smith's had a very loving relationship. Yes, sure they had their fits (most caused by Mrs. Smith because she has always liked to give her husband the hardest time) but they raised their little boy in a very healthy environment.

An unexpected visitor had arrived and before she knew it she was sprinting to her car and driving downtown to her parents' humble abode. She closed the door behind her with a thud, feeling her stomach growl at the scent of freshly baked apple pie. She smiled. "I'm home!" Harper called out as she unwrapped the scarf from her neck and carefully draped it over the end of the stair case. Although she no longer lived with her parents, the Manning house was still her number one place to find solace and comfort despite a hectic schedule. But it was the silence that followed her announcement that slightly put her on edge. Usually, Harper was greeted back with a warm welcome. All she heard were her parents' pet birds chirping from their corner of the unseen cage.
"Mom? Dad?" Harper asked as she walked through the hall into the spread out kitchen and dining room. What she saw next though was somewhat unexpected - yet all at the same time, she was not surprised. Hazel eyes immediately narrowed at the site of the male sitting nonchalantly at the counter of her house, as though it was his second home. Albeit, the Smith household was also a place of tranquility for Harper, but that did not mean their son was a token of one as well. In fact, he was one of the few people who easily got under her skin.
She could already feel it, her bones rattling underneath pink flesh. Harper didn't realize she was staring. "You're not my parents," Harper said finally, a smile gracing her countenance. Andrew never failed to be one of her least favorite, yet most favorite person she knew. It was a complex relationship built over twenty two years that neither bothered to explain.
She hadn't seen him in quite awhile, maybe only a week and a half, but that was long in her book. Harper walked around the counter he sat on, looking at the note posted on the fridge: Grabbing some last minute ingredients with the Smiths! Be back in ten minutes, Andrew should be here soon too. Well, apparently he had already beat Harper to it.
Her eyes flickered over to Andrew, her expression slightly smug. She was tired but still radiated nonetheless, even though every time she saw him she couldn't help but think about the toddler bath times and pre teen angst. "And where have you been all my life?" Harper asked with an arched brow, teasing but also curious."You don't even care enough to text me but you show up at my house as if I'm the one that invited you," She continued with a small smirk, eyeing him carefully.

Date: 2013-07-31 10:15 pm (UTC)She sauntered over with him to the couch, feeling herself dragged down. Harper allowed herself to sink into the couch beside him. "Oh honey, you know I'm not your Prince Charming," Harper informed with an eye roll, as if she has to remind him. But it was almost more that she had to remind him that he wasn't her prince either. Every time she spoke to Andrew she could not help but rack through their endless memories, some better unspoken and forgotten.
Her hazel eyes didn't leave his face. After over twenty years of seeing it, it still annoyed her how he grew up to be attractive. Maybe she would have loved him more if he had just stayed in his awkward pre teen phase, and didn't grow up to look like how he did now. With his arm still draped around her as they sat she placed her hand to the side of his face, pushing him away.
"I don't think it's completely fair you get to show up to my house and eat apple pie when I don't think you have visited me at my new apartment once," Harper pestered him. It was a lie though, considering he had been there last week. "You only ever come for Lo," she accused him with a pointed finger, wanting to see his reaction.
He was the biggest flirt she knew. Bigger than her.

Date: 2013-08-01 12:29 am (UTC)Harper ran her fingers back through her hair in hopes that their parents would show up soon. She always hated losing her cool, something easily done by Andrew by simply calling her bad nick names. But he had only scratched the surface of what was the "collected" Harper Manning. The night was still young.
To the same extent though she hoped their parental unit never showed up. All four were convinced they were going to be in laws within the next five years, how the magic would continue not only in their powers, but that Harper and Andrew would have physically flawless children. Although Harper may have argued that was true, she also argued that Andrew's ears were too big for his head, just to spite him. I don't want my children to look like Dumbo, was what she said in response each and every time.
"You have barged in on me quite enough times in our lives, I hardly doubt you feel guilty about it now," Harper pointed out to him.
"I have only ever walked in on you once, and at least I didn't stare!" She said with a laugh escaping her lips, because she was accusing him of not just entering and leaving. No, of all the times he walked in on her changing, she can remember a few times he lingered. Harper lied back on the couch so that her head was against the arm rest. She slid off her shoes and kicked the side of his butt with her foot, her childish antics undying when it came to Andrew.

Date: 2013-08-01 01:10 am (UTC)Quietly, she sat by the window to allow the sunshine to kiss her soft skin as she enjoyed her cold drink and tried to memorize the ten principles on staging a home to sell. It was a lot more technical than one might imagine. The steps were pretty simple but they had substeps that got more complicated to memorize.
She was just reading up on 'staging for your buyer' when she heard Andrew. Lo was vaguely aware of his magic. Looking up, she smiled a bit. "Hey, stranger," she greeted with a laugh. "What are you up to?" she asked, marking her page before folding the book closed to give Andrew more of her attention.
